Welcome to holah.co.uk

The new bigger and better holah.co.uk stuff for the new specifications is coming very soon.  I am having a holiday in the sun (Barbados/Bridlington) and then the newer site will be up before our students come back.   Thanks for all of the concerned e-mails and yes the old/legacy stuff will still be accessible and the new one will be much better.  I am thinking about dropping the penguins - any opinions welcome.

This is a website full of stuff that should be useful and enjoyable if you are studying OCR psychology.

This OCR course in AS psychology will provide you with an introduction to the theories and methods of psychology. You will have the opportunity to evaluate some of the explanations psychologists provide in trying to understand human behaviour and experiences.  The course covers 20 core studies that represent a range of psychological interests and the methods psychologists use.  The AS qualification is made up of three written papers which include the following:

2540 Core Studies 1 and 2541 Core Studies 2 – you will study 20 research papers that will provide you with a flavour of how psychology is carried out.

2542 Psychological Investigations – you will have the opportunity to try out some of the methods that psychologists use.

Core Studies in Psychology

This software is now available to purchase and is very good.  Well actually it is excellent and at £150 per college/school is great value too.  The software runs on a school/college network/intranet and guides each learner through the 20 core studies and more.  The software is interactive and includes animations and lots of quizzes.

I have piloted this software with my own students who found it "engaging and stimulating".  The software can be used by a teacher in class but I believe it works best when the learner is in control at their own screen.  If you are a budget holder you can buy the software here and if you are a student/pupil pester your teacher to buy it.

Furthermore the core studies are better summarised than this site and are still exam focused.  My favourite bits are the multi choice questions which tell you why you are right or wrong.
